“Laws and systems cannot change the heart of a single criminal but God can” were the words of Mathilda, as she liked to be called. She was the last-born of a noble family based in Finland.

Around the age of 20 she had an encounter with the living God, who then called her to work among the prisoners and rejected people of that time. It was not without a struggle that Mathilda obeyed to the point of sacrificing her whole life for these people and their families back at home, helping and supporting them the best she could. God equipped her for the work He had called her to and numerous lives were transformed through her dedication, obedience and love. One secret of Mathilda’s ability to win the hearts of these hardened men and women was her trust in them.
