2013 Youth Conference 7 - 14
The theme of the December Youth Conference is "I am the first
and the last" (in Zulu, "Nginguye owokuqala nowokugcina").
The June conference (see more here) had about 7,000 attending. Our prayer is
that the Lord would bring those who He wants to be here.
Thank you for praying for these precious souls.
Summary of services
Sat, 7 Dec 2013, 19.00, Rev Joe Newlands took the opening service
from Luke 9:1, 2 and Luke 10:1,9. The title of his message was, "The Kingdom of God
is near". In the beginning God created man in His image to have fellowship with them
and that they might always be connected to Him. However, they chose to rebel against Him
and disobey Him and so were separated from Him and the fellowship was broken. They were
afraid and hid themselves from God, even as people do to this day when they do wrong and
their conscience reprove them. People do evil in darkness and hide it so it will remain in
the darkness (John 3:19-21). But we were made to have fellowship with God and be connected
to Him day and night, day by day! This can now only happen when we are born again, as
Jesus had said, "you must be born again" (John 3:3). When you come to Jesus,
confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all your
sin (1John 1:9). Sin in your life makes you old (Ps 32:3). But if you come to Christ
Jesus, confess and forsake it, you will be made new (2Cor 5:17). As God speaks to you,
come to Him. Do not fear your friends, but fear God, for "the fear of God is the
beginning of wisdom" (Prov 9:10).
Sun, 8 Dec 2013, 11.00, Rev Erlo Stegen took the main Sunday
service and preached from Rev 1:8, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the
ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty". Read the full summary here.
Sun, 8 Dec 2013, 15.00, Dr Albu van Eeden preached from Luke
24:13-36, on the two disciples who went to Emmaus on the day that Jesus rose from the
dead. Their difficulties drew them closer to God. The difficulties we meet up with can
either draw us closer to God or drive us away from Him. A certain young man got the
message that his wife was unfaithful. He began to hate God and went mad against God. He
sinned in every way possible. One day he saw a film and heard the message of the Gospel.
He broke down, came and asked for prayer. He insisted to confess his sins and cleansed his
life thoroughly. We prayed together. When we left there he was shining. Blessed is the one
who turns to God in his difficulty and do not turn their backs on Him. Unless you ask Him
to come in and stay with you He will pass you by. He made as if He would pass by but they
asked Him to stay with them and He stayed. Confess to God what stand between you and Him
that He might come in and stay with you.

Mon, 9 Dec 2013, 19.00, Rev Friedel Stegen took the service from
Eccl 11:9, "You who are young, be happy while
you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways
of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will
bring you into judgment."
The Lord is the First and the Last. He gives us
life and is the first in our lives. And one day the Lord will come again and will be the
last. He gave life one day and will take my life. God has our lives in His Hand, but He
gives us the opportunity to choose the way we want to life. God does not force anybody.
But remember, one day you have to give account for the life the Lord gave you. We need to
live according to God's will. All I need to do is that what God wants me to do. If we one
day will stand before His throne, He will ask what life we did live. According to that He
will judge us. I must choose every day the good or the bad. It is easy because the Lord
gave us His 10 commandments and the Holy Spirit who leads us in all the truth. A wise
person will live a life that brings one to my Lord and Savior. The devil will work in
people's lives that they choose the bad things. But may our lives bring glory to God. The
Lord created us for a purpose. Let Jesus come in your heart. Do not harden your heart.
