28 June: Sports. Various soccer, netball and volleyball teams
compete against each other.
The final service was taken by Rev Erlo Stegen. Speaking from Romans 8:19 "For the
creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed."
27 June: Testimonies have had a powerful influence at these
services (where about 6000 or more are now in attendance). Some youngsters have been
deeply involved in drug addiction and prostitution before Christ set them free. A Lt
Sithole spoke for the SAPS on the dangers of different drugs including uniquely South
African types. At the end of the evening session Doctors for Life showed a film
on drug addiction.
25 and 26 June Tues and Wed evenings, Rev Stegen continue with
theme. In particular, he emphasized God's love towards the perishing and His invitation,
through Christ, to live instead of heading to death.
24 June Mon evening - Rev Stegen continued with theme verse
23 June Sun evening - Rev Stegen preached from the theme verse of
Ez 33:11 (more to come)
22 June, Sat evening - dr Albu van Eeden took the service on the
"danger of being a pharisee". His text was from Isaiah 66:3.
To a pharisee everything revolves around himself, even his service
of God. His aim is to see what he can get out of it. And in this text God shows how He
views the service and sacrifice of the pharisee - to God it is an abomination.
Jesus also said that the one who makes a little one in Christ
stumble, it were better for him that a millstone be hung about his neck and he be cast
into the sea (Luke 17:1-2 and Mark 9:42). How is a little one made to stumble? By the
pharisee's lukewarmness. A new convert still has his first love, and is on fire for God.
But when he meets up with the pharisee's lukewarm life, thinking that the pharisee is a
mature Christian, he is made to stumble by the pharisee's life and might lose his first
love for God.
Woe to you if you are such a pharisee, who causes the newborn
babes in Christ to stumble!
